Once launched, the new case study library will demonstrate how robotics can yield a measurable return on investment to deploying organizations operating in a range of critical sectors.

The Canadian Robotics Council (CRC), a proud member of NGen’s cluster network, is excited to announce it has received a generous $100,000 in project funding from NGen's Cluster Accelerator Program to fund the development of a Canadian Robotics Case Study Library.

This new initiative is a strategic response to a critical need in Canadian industry. While robotics offer immense potential to boost productivity and competitiveness, many Canadian businesses, particularly Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), are hesitant to adopt these technologies. This is often due to a lack of accessible information on real-world applications and a clear understanding of the return on investment.

The Canadian Robotics Case Study Library will serve as a publicly accessible, trusted resource that showcases successful robot deployments across various sectors. Our goal is to de-risk technology investments for Canadian SMEs by providing clear, measurable examples of how robotics can make a positive impact and generate clear return on investment (ROI). By highlighting these stories, we aim to bridge the knowledge gap and empower businesses to confidently integrate robotics into their operations.

This transformative project is made possible through the generous support of NGen, whose Cluster Accelerator Program is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth in key sectors. The project funding is part of a larger $1.29 million investment to support 13 cluster organizations across Canada, all working to strengthen the country’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

The quotes below, taken from NGen's official news release, highlight the significance of this work:

"The Advanced Manufacturing Cluster, a cornerstone of Canada's Global Innovation Clusters initiative, is a vital driver in enhancing the competitiveness and sustainable growth of our manufacturing sector,” said the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry. “By leveraging the power of collaboration and investing in critical areas like artificial intelligence and robotics, the Cluster is helping accelerate the development, adoption and commercialization of advanced technologies."

NGen CEO, Jayson Myers, also commented on the importance of the initiative, stating that "These cluster organizations are at the heart of Canada’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem. By supporting a network of cluster organizations, NGen is helping SMEs get access to the tools and supports they need to grow, leading to a stronger, more resilient advanced manufacturing sector."
